3 Kids In Hallmark Makes For A Good Time

I did it. I shopped. Most importantly..I SURVIVED! It was CRAZY. The drive to Hudson was not bad. Not bad at all. All the kids were quiet. I think Grayson might have slept. I know Claire did. I could see her in the rear view mirror.

Funny story before all the craziness though. In Hudson before heading to Target, I had to stop at the bank. Across the street from the drive through lanes, there is a porn shop called Left Of Center. It doesn't look seedy or anything. They have a sign on a blacked out window that says a bunch of stuff about bachelorette parties. So, I'm waiting for the teller to come up on the little TV screen outside my window, and Ethan and Claire are peering their heads as much as the can next to Grayson's carseat to the front seat to see if the teller will include suckers today. Along comes this guy jaunting down the street. He stops in front of Left Of Center and reaches for the door, and notices a sign on the sidewalk outside the door. He stops to read it, and then looks across the street, right at me. I see him take a quick scan of the two little faces in the backseat glued to the front window waiting for suckers, and me, watching him, read the sign. He quickly walks to the building next to Left Of Center, and starts smoking a cigarette and looking around. Funny that he's all paranoid about me watching him, but he's getting ready to walk into a porn shop in front of a very busy street. I laughed. A lot.

Anyways, Target was not bad. We went in, grabbed what we needed, and were out in no time. I think we spent a total of 20 minutes grabbing what we needed. Then, we headed to Hallmark, where IT all began. I have to say, I was terrified to bring Claire into Hallmark. You know the rule, 'you break it, you buy it'...If she had been touching, I would have been buying that whole store. I put her in her umbrella stroller, and had Ethan push her while I carried Grayson in his carseat. My first 5 minutes of looking around were just fine. Everyone was quiet. Then, Grayson decided that he just wasn't having it, and started to wail. Hallmark is not a big store, and there were mabe 5 other people there....They all stared. I don't know why, but when I'm in a tiny store like that and my baby starts to cry, my heart skips every other beat. Like, I'm having a panic attack and I don't know why. I'm standing in front of those Willow Tree Friends that Hallmark sells now. My great grandmother loves them, so I always buy her a little box or a small angel. I pick up and angel and I check the price. What does Ethan do? He picks up the MOST EXPENSIVE angel, looks at the bottom, and I FREAK OUT!! What if he had dropped it? My heart is going to explode. I finally grab everything I need and head to check out. I'm standing there waiting in the small line, and I start hearing this shrill whisteling. I'm all, "What, in the heck, is that?" Then, I notice Ethan has a whistle that I had hidden from Claire in the small pocket of the umbrella stroller. Ethan has found it. Perfect. This is when Claire starts trying to reach the candy on the counter. She's making over exaggerated gimme noises. So, to recap, Grayson is screaming his head off, Ethan is blowing a whistle, and Claire is making really loud gimme noises. The most noise in any store on the face of the planet, and it's all coming from my kids. Awesome...No no...Triple awesome. The perfect end to a perfect day. I'm really hoping that it gets easier when Grayson reaches the toddler stage. I think I can handle two toddlers a little easier than a toddler and a 7 week old. Or, so I hope.

Now all kids are sleeping peacefully, and it's 1AM..Why am I still up? Because I had to do this:I volunteered to make cupcakes for Ethan's class Christmas party, which is tomorrow. The only way I could get them done was to make them after everyone was in bed. Everyone went to bed at 8:30, so in between baking, I cleaned, and in between cooling, I cleaned. My kitchen is finally clean and my living room is looking somewhat normal. Ethan wanted the cupcakes to look like Christmas ornaments. I hope he's satisfied. It was the best I could do. Now it's my turn to go to bed. Night!
