Writer's Workshop: Rose It Up

Writer's Workshop!  Today I chose the prompt On The Bachelor a rose is given to the women he could really see himself spending the rest of his life with. What six things in your life would you like to give a rose to and why?

So, I'm sure we all know that I'd give my kids a rose, and on his good days, David...Hardy har har..Just kidding, honey!  So, I'll tell you my inanimate objects.

Rose number one, my electric can opener.  No, really, I would give it a rose.  I don't know what it is with manual can openers, but I cannot buy a good one that would actually open a can if my life depended on it.  If the end of the world came and all I had was canned food and a manual can opener, my days would be filled   with slamming the damn can against rocks trying to get it open and probably yelling profanities at the can opener when I went back to try it again.  It's a good thing that a lot of cans have pop tops now.

Rose number two would go to my camera.  The more I use it, the more in love with it I become.  I'm trying my hardest to learn all of it's settings.  I've read the manual.  I've read books.  I've looked up classes at local community colleges that might help, but haven't found a thing about it.  I would love to become a photographer.  It's been something I've wanted to do for quite some time.

Rose number three belongs to my kindle.  Now that Amazon has the Kindle Owner's Lending Library, I can read all kinds of stuff for free, which is pretty awesome.  I just wish they offered more.  I also wish they didn't have a prime stipulation.  See, David has a prime membership, which he shares with me, but in order for me to borrow books, I have to connect my kindle to his account because he owns the prime membership.  I find it very annoying.

Rose four would belong to my Dyson.  Now that we live in a bigger house, we have a lot more carpet.  It's so different from our tiny trailer, which had a lot of carpet as well, but not as much as here.  And Dyson takes it all on.  He's getting a little beat up now though.  A wheel falls off from time to time, so while I'm vacuuming, I have to stop, kick the wheel into place and then continue on about my business.  It's a little annoying, but I still love my Dyson.  Me and Dyson, taking on dust, cobwebs and floor junk!

Rose five belongs to my book light.  David and I go to bed at the same time.  He likes to watch TV for awhile before he goes to sleep, and I don't.  I'd much rather read.  That's where book light comes in, lighting up the words in my world.  And, it works great on my books, and on my kindle.  The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes those small cell batteries, and I'd really rather not keep those in the house.

And finally, rose six would go to Friday nights.  Throughout the week, I DVR all of my favorite shows, and on Friday nights, David goes to bed early because he gets up on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 4AM for work, and the kids head off to bed  between 8 and 9PM.  So I get all settled down and I watch all of my favorite shows WITHOUT interruption.  I can actually hear what all of the characters are saying and I can understand the plot and story lines, and I LOVE that.  So, thanks Friday nights!
