It's A Yucky Feeling Day!

We had a bit of an H1N1 scare in our house this week. Ethan came home from school on Thursday with a cough, a fever, a runny nose and a sore throat. I called the pediatrician to see if I should bring him in. They transferred me to a nurse, who gave me the run around on symptoms that I should be looking for. I got frustrated. David called me on his break. I told him what was happening. He got me a number for a nurse line through Target. I called them. SO MUCH MORE HELPFUL!! They told me that since he had a fever and a cough, to quarantine him. Into his room he went. His humidifier was filled and turned on. He had his water, his blankets and his movies. He was a pretty happy camper. They told me if he got worse the next day, to call them back and they'd help me out with his symptoms and let us know what we would need to do. The next day the fever was gone and the sore throat went away, but the cough and the stuffy nose were still there, so he was home from school and we kept him in quarantine. David was the one taking this into the room, out of the room and just generally helping. We got Ethan face masks to wear when he came out to get water, snacks and use the bathroom. He spent his time watching movies and playing. I know he was bored, but he was such a trooper. Today, the cough was the only thing that remained, so we came to the conclusion that he just had a touch of the regular old flu, and let him out of his room. The cough is MUCH better than it was. I attribute that to cough meds and his humidifier being on for 2 1/2 days.

So, the bad this about this whole fiasco is that now I am sick. My throat hurts, I'm terribly tired and my body hurts. I've been trying to keep myself covered up around Claire because I'd love for her to avoid catching this if at all possible. We have a birthday party for my niece on Saturday, and if Claire's ill, I don't want to be taking her and exposing other kids to her. Hopefully, I'm feeling much better by Thursday when my MIL comes to town. I'm hoping it only lasts a couple of days. I don't want to deal with this cold for a long time. It seems like I like to get sick before giving birth though. I got a horrible cold with both Ethan and Claire about a week and a half before they were both born.
