Arizona

Our trip to Arizona was wonderful. While we went for a reason that was quite sad, I had a wonderful time visiting family and I absolutely loved watching all of my grandparents and my great-grandmother meet Claire and Grayson for the very first time.

We got to the airport bright and early on April 4th. The kids were excited about flying. Me? Not so much. The kids were also excited about watching airplanes.

Grayson cared more about French Fries.

Once we got to AZ and found my MIL in the airport, we headed off to her house, where the kids were obviously WIRED at almost 9PM. Claire and Ethan spent a good half hour (maybe longer) spinning in the computer chair together.

The next day we headed out to my grandma's house for lunch, where the kids sat and ate at the same table that I sat and had meals at when I was their age.

There was an impromptu party as it was my grandmother's birthday. Dinner and cake with my family. It felt like home. No pictures of this event though as I want to protect my family's privacy.

I headed up north on Wednesday, and realized that sometimes, I miss the mountain view around Phoenix.

But on my way down just 3 short days later, I realized that snow might follow me everywhere I go.

We spent the next couple of days being worn out by family

Then we headed back out to my grandmother's in Chandler. Grayson met the dog that my brother and I begged my grandfather for when I was 11. He caved and we took her home.

I watched them play in the same places that I played when I was their age, just minus a few fences and a couple dozen goats.

Then they ran around on the trailer that my brother and I spent hours jumping off of and running back and forth on when we were kids, and the sunset in the background was amazing.

And before we knew it, it was time to go.

Our trip was wonderful. The kids did amazing on the airplanes. Yeah, that's plural. Four airplanes in total. However, it was a fun (sad) trip. I can't wait to go back.

Aww - it looks they had a great time! I bet they had some cool stories to tell daddy when they got home...
