Wow..It's been awhile here in blog land. Time for an update I suppose.
Well, Claire is still being introduced to the wonderful world of solid foods. Though, she has taken a particular disliking in banana's...Seriously...I'm not even sure why. Ethan LOVED banana's. He thought they were the best thing. He started the morning with them, and I usually gave him half a jar after a stage 2 or 3 food. Claire, on the other hand, as soon as the spoon hits her mouth, her face crinkles, and she can't stick her tongue out fast enough to get rid of this awful intruder on her taste buds. I think if she had the hand control, she'd scrape her mouth clean. Poor kid. Apples and peaches on the other hand are OK with her!
Claire is rolling from back to tummy with no problems now. It's only a matter of time until she's mobile, and I'm running from room to room saying, 'Don't eat that! Don't touch that! No, Claire, that's not food!' and I honestly can't wait. I still remember how excited I was when Ethan started his boundless crawling adventures and unplanned naps in his 'tent' that daddy made for him. It provided tons of memories and boundless picture opportunities.
Onto other exciting things. This past week, Ethan took an added interest in feeding his baby sister. Wanting to let him enjoy the full experience of being a big brother, I showed him how to feed her, and brought out the video camera to document this sweet moment between brother and sister. Claire giggled and swiped at Ethan's pinky as he gave her food, and he giggled every time her sweet potato covered fingers grazed his wrist. After a few bites, he innocently looked at the camera and said, 'Mommy, does everyone in the world have privates?' I laughed. We have been talking about privates and bad touching in order for him to earn a bobcat badge for Boy Scouts. I responded with, 'Yes, everyone does have privates.' I considered this to be the end, but then came, 'Well, if everyone has privates, is it OK for everyone to touch their own privates?' I tried to change the subject, but we all know that 6 year olds are hard to steer off course, so he continued his chat about privates, while I tried to figure out how to shut off the video camera, which at that moment, didn't seem to want to stop filming. We know have a chat about privates to enjoy with our family, and maybe future girlfriends, for years to come. Thank you Ethan, for the memories.
